Was there some sort of special animation for this movie because it has never looked quite like other animation.
It was almost entirely rotoscoped, if that’s what you mean? That means it was drawn on top of live action film, which is how they got the realistic subtleties.
Whoa, that’s so cool. Wow.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is rotoscoping done fantastically right.
Because all you really need to do is find some cheap animation produced by lesser-to-completely-unknown studios to see how horribly disturbing rotoscoping is when the artist cannot animate very well; if the frame rate is too slow? It looks jerky, choppy, and repulsively unnatural. It leaps right into the uncanny valley and sets up house there.
Another reason I loved this animation style, 20th century fox did it SOOO right with this movie and also Titan A.E. I LOVE the realism they captured with the help of rotoscoping. Beautiful.
Pages all filled out in my Gravity Falls journal #3. I have no idea what order they go in (or even if that’s been consistently canonically established), and even the order they’re in here is not the same as the order I put them in the book. Because consistency is for chumps.
It still isn’t finished, as several pages have photographs taped in so next will be drawing/printing/cutting and affixing those.
A few artistic liberties were taken where clear references were unavailable; and a lot of the writing is gibberish scribbles (you can tell, because the scribbles are more legible than my attempts at cursive).
reblogging here because i can see this being relevant to anyone who’s ever tried to get out of an abusive relationship
Reblogging because that last comment made me reread the whole thing in a new light and realize this could be vital information. So, putting it out there for everyone, and hoping no one ever really needs it.
